Women and Tea

“A woman is like a tea bag – you never how strong she is until she gets into hot water.”

Could be (in the mind of a sicko):

A woman is like a tea bag – you never know how hot she is until you grab her.

OR

A woman is like a tea bag – you never know how fragile she is until she busts open and spills her guts out everywhere.

OR

A woman is like a tea bag – you never know how light she is until you try to push her under water.

This is getting too dark and ugly.

A woman is like a tea bag – you never know how dark she is until you let her sit and steep a while…..

Silhouettes

I am so happy to have a new silhouette of my girl, to go alongside the one from when she was a baby. There's really no comparison! I do think she looks a little like me in the top one :-)
PS - the photo on the right of the silhouette, of which you can only see a snippet, is the Kennedy School where Turner and I stayed in Portland, OR when I was four months pregnant with Kennedy. Coincidence?!?! If you're ever in the area, GO TO THERE.

Happy September

I don't know what is more troubling, that during our shoe shopping excursion tonight Kennedy immediately went to the Sketchers brand ("THESE ARE SKETCHERS!") or that she is now in a size 11 shoe. With laces! You might remember a previous post about the tall variety, which she certainly does not need and did not get. These, however, make her run faster, jump higher, and look stylin'.

It is the first day of September and that means that I should quit blogging and return to birthday party preparations and planning for grandmama's visit. Twice a year I wish we had a guest room, and this is one of those times. I did make a cute little nook in the office across from the foldout love seat though:

Isn't it cute? And nookish?
And here are the dogs getting fur all over the office foldout love seat:

Yes that is her tongue....

Confession, 8/6/09

I used my daughter's Nemo toothpaste last night, just 'cause. Sparkly Grape = Gross. Oh, and I thought I had appendicitis at 4 a.m. Don't think they were related.....

12 Ways to Sort Barbies or "How I Lost My Sanity Living with All These Dolls"

If one were to sort 113 Barbies into two separate toy bins, what would be the most logical distinguishing characteristics by which to separate them? Because, of course, logic is of utmost importance when you're dealing with a pile of plastic and unruly hair. And, NO, throwing them all in the trash is NOT an option.

These are your options:

  1. Blond vs. Brunette
  2. Dark skinned vs. Light skinned (Segregation? Can we do that?)
  3. Princess vs. Working Woman
  4. Clothed vs. Naked
  5. Plasticized underwear vs. Going commando
  6. Those that change color when wet vs. Those that don't
  7. Those that are water logged and shall forever remain "Bath Barbies" vs. Those that are not
  8. Big Feet vs. Little Feet (yes, some Barbies do have giant Sasquatch feet. I think they are the more athletic ones. Next category please....)
  9. Athletic vs. Fashionista
  10. Made in Indonesia vs. Made in China
  11. Those with Stars on their Bellies vs. Those with None upon Thars
and, last but not least, in my house:

12. Has all hands and limbs vs. Amputee

Bucket O' Decoupage

You too can turn an ordinary plastic cheese ball bucket into a colorful container using some Modge Podge, cut-up magazines, and kids' artwork (or your own)! Is there anything cuter for markers and crayons?
